The pink-and-white Government House marries The Bahamas of yesterday and today. Dating to 1801, it's a shining example of Bahamian British and American Colonial architecture and now official residence of the Governor General of the Bahamas today.

It's little wonder that beautiful beaches are everywhere on New Providence Island, thanks to the Atlantic Ocean's rainbow of blues on all sides.

For a peaceful (and romantic) beach day, head to the secluded Love Beach, which has calm, clear waters, and a small beach bar.

At Saunders Beach, expect white sand, bright-blue waters, and fewer people around. Plus, thanks to the offshore island providing shelter to the beach, it's a great spot to swim. 

Goodman's Bay Park is another popular beach choice in Nassau. It has a playground, basic restrooms, vendors, and rentals.

Go below the surface of the Bahamas' stunning blues with a trip to Clifton Heritage National Park. Off the western coast of New Providence Island and just a short drive from Nassau, the park is home to Ocean Atlas, an art installation and artificial reef with a massive underwater statue representing a young woman holding up the weight of the ocean. This unique snorkeling spot also has historical ruins, nature trails, and coastal views, so make a day of it.

One of the most popular cultural experiences in Nassau is a visit to the Straw Market, where you can shop for gifts and souvenirs or just take in the hustle and bustle.
