With terrain for all levels of riders, Breckenridge Ski Resort has nearly 190 trails, four terrain parks, and 35 lifts. There’s a ski school for little ones, and multiple green (easy) trails, as well as plenty of options for intermediate and expert skiers and boarders.

In summer, the mountain becomes a playground for hikers and mountain bikers, who can take the gondola to the top and ride or walk down. Epic Discovery, located at the top of Peak 8 in the ski area and accessed via the free BreckConnect Gondola, is another top summer attraction for visitors of all ages.

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, take a ride on the Breckenridge Gold Runner Coaster. Or enjoy alpine slides, a giant human maze, a bungee trampoline, or a zipline and ropes course for kids.

The Breckenridge Arts District, located just off Main Street, is home to a lively arts campus of renovated historic structures that serve as studio spaces for classes. Run by Breckenridge Creative Arts, classes are offered in ceramics, glassblowing, mosaics, oil painting, and more. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon and leave with a one-of-a-kind souvenir.

Additionally, you'll find more than 30 art installations scattered around town. The most popular of these outdoor displays is a 15-foot-tall wooden troll sculpture called Isak Heartstone.

Originally built as part of the annual Breckenridge International Arts Festival (held annually in August), Isak is the work of Danish artist Thomas Dambo, who is globally recognized for bringing awareness to recycling and upcycling by making art out of trash. To reach Isak, hike the Trollstigen Trail next to Illinois Gulch Trailhead. (Illinois Gulch is part of a network of 60 miles of hiking trails managed by Breck that all begin in this area.)

You can still shop, dine, and drink in many of the original buildings on Main Street. With more than 200 shops, you'll find everything from high-end adventure gear to art galleries to magic shops.

To sample a slice of Breck history, head to the Gold Pan Saloon, which began in the 1860s as a tented watering hole for miners and opened in its current building in 1879. Today, it claims to hold the longest continuous liquor license west of the Mississippi River. A favorite spot for visitors and locals, this atmospheric dive bar serves a contemporary pub menu and features live music and dancing.

Downstairs at Eric's is another Breck institution. Located in the basement level of a Main Street building, this family-friendly establishment offers booth and table seating. The menu features wings, pizzas, burgers, and hot and cold sandwiches along with dozens of beers on tap. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so you may have to wait for a table. However, there are plenty of old-school arcade games to keep everyone entertained.

For fine dining, head to the Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon for butcher-cut beef and wild game.
